Tree of Life (Detail), 30” x 40”, 2007 (Age 12), Painting
Ever since I heard of her, Akiane Kramarik has been a huge inspiration to me and the goals I have as an artist. Underneath her fantastic work is an intriguing story. Akiane is an artistic and poetic prodigy with both an American and Lithuanian heritage. She was born in 1994 and began painting only six years later. At four she had a profound vision of God that led her family from atheism to deep spirituality, and she creates each of her paintings with the goal of that change of heart in mind for her viewers.
It is of course impressive that this young girl can create such amazing works at such a young age, but that is not the element of her work that inspires me. I love her work because I too hope to create works of art that speak to those who see them as manifestations of truth and of God’s love. Though this is her goal, not all of her pieces immediately appear to have a spiritual connection, but by reading her explanations it becomes apparent that those are her intentions. Her pieces are beautiful and insightful. Now, she is sixteen, and continues to paint with a similar inspiration as she did in her early years.
